Light Art (光技(こうぎ) Kōgi, lit. "Light Techniques") is the generic name of prana, which improves physical abilities and the users of Light Arts are known as «Shirogane» (白鉄(くろま) lit. White Iron).

Principles[]

If Shirogane, who has Prana as their power source, which is poured out from the Seven Gates in a person's body: located at their Hands (両手(りょうて) Ryōte), Feet (両足(りょうあし) Ryōashi), Brow (眉間(みけん) Miken), Navel (丹田(たんでん) Tanden), and Heart (心臓(しんぞう) Shinzō). Each opened Gate allows them to pour out prana from them, which could then be used to strengthen themselves to superhuman levels. However, the amount of prana and how much a person could use the Light Arts is dependent on the number of gates someone opened, which would result in themselves being all but shrouded in prana instead of simply one or more Gates. Differing from Kuroma, who are better at destruction, the Shirogane can use their prana to heal their injuries, with others being capable of healing others as shown by Angela Johnson who healed Moroha, through transferring prana little-by-little to him to activate his.

According to Moroha Haimura, the strength and nature of prana is closely related to a person's mental state, this, is something that the White Knight Order has evaluated this as nothing more than a myth without no connection. However, those who have listened to him has undergone amazing growth much more than what those who have measured their abilities believed.

Ars Magna[]

Ars Magna (神通力(アルス マグナ) Arusu Maguna, lit. "Divine Power") is a special kind or power, caused from a Shirogane, who through a special weapon or technique could filter and transform it into a much greater strength which emits the most beautiful brilliance in the three-dimensional world, resulting in amazing power.

Techniques[]

Light Arts[]

Among the general techniques that increases their physical abilities to achieve superhuman physical abilities and feats out of the norm, these consists of basic techniques and their advanced applications.

Image Name Description Users
NIA Diamond Skin (金剛通(こんごうつう) Kongōtsū, lit. "High Durability") One of the basic Light Arts, where one raises their defenses using prana, being enough to withstand being hit by a car without wounds. Most of the normal users couldn't defend against much stronger attacks without a higher amount of power, but there are exceptional users such as Sophia and Satsuki, whose natural Tanks aren't invincible to much more powerful attacks. Moroha Haimura
Sophia Mertesacker
Satsuki Ranjou
NIA Magical Resistance (耐魔通(たいまつう) Taimatsū) Another application of "Diamond Skin", allows a Shirogane to defend themselves from Dark Arts and Metaphysical's satana. It was believed that normal Magical Resistance couldn't negate the damage caused by them, however, Moroha could defend against the Step One: Flare, because of his overwhelming prana. Moroha Haimura
Himura Venus Sun (金烏(きんう) kin'u) An advanced version of "Diamond Skin", where one focuses their prana at one point instead of being enshrouded in it, making that one spot impenetrable. Due to Sun's difficult nature, no other Saviors aside from those among the S Rank Saviors could use it. Edward has described it as compressing space. Ma Diegua
Sir Edward Lampard
Moroha Haimura
NIA Moon (玉兎(ぎょくと) Gyokuto) An advanced move paired with "Sun", where one focuses their prana around them for an instant, making them invincible for a moment. Much like Sun, Moon is a difficult move to use as no one aside from Edward could use it to a masterful level, who described it as "compressing time". Moroha could use it now and in his previous life, but isn't reliant on it, because Moon is dangerous to use. Moroha Haimura
NIA Unknown Name 1 (名称(めいしょう)不明(ふめい) 1 Meishō Fumei 1) An applied technique that exists between "Diamond Skin" and "Sun", one which is much easier for the reserve members of the Striker Unit. It is described as allowing one to withstand hits from strong opponents via focusing prana at a particular spot, something which Satsuki learned and proved to be capable of withstanding attacks from Lu Zhixin, an S Rank. However, it requires one to predict where their opponent's attack is going to land and concentrate the correct prana there, or less the user will be wounded. Moroha Haimura
Satsuki Ranjou
Sophia Mertesacker
NIA Unknown Name 2 (名称(めいしょう)不明(ふめい) 2 Meishō Fumei 2) An applied technique existing between "Diamond Skin" and "Moon", granting one high defense much close to being invincible for 10 seconds. However, a drawback is that it makes one too stiff to move around, making it usable for Tank-types, such as Sophia Mertesacker and Satsuki Ranjou, the latter could defend herself against Haruka Momochi's "Venus". Satsuki Ranjou
NIA Strength (剛力通(ごうりきつう) Gorikitsū, lit. "Superhuman Strength") A basic Light Art, where the Shirogane envelopes their hands or feet with prana, increasing their strength, thus dealing greater damage. Moroha Haimura
NIA Divine Sight (天眼通(てんげんつう) Tengentsū, lit. "Clairvoyance") A Light Art, where the Shirogane enhances their eyesight with prana, increasing their visual acuity and dynamic vision. A skilled enough user could use it, to the point of seeing 1 km, however, an S Rank could see up to 5 km without much effort. Moroha Haimura
Souya Manako
NIA Divine Ear (天耳通(てんにつう) Tenjitsū, lit. "Divine Hearing") A Light Art, where a Shirogane can strengthen their hearing using prana. But, it is difficult to use in combat, making it difficult for a Shirogane to train the Divine Ear. Moroha Haimura
NIA Godspeed (神速通(じんそくつう) Jinsokutsū) A basic Light Art, where a Shirogane enhances their leg strength with prana, moving at high speed and jumping long distances thought impossible. It gets easier to use the more it's trained, but skilled Godspeed users can find fighting against much stronger opponents. It can be combined with the other derivation of the Godspeed technique, such as Mongyoku and Bukyoku. Moroha Haimura
Haruka Momochi
Sir Edward Lampard
Leonard Van Percy
Ma Diegua
NIA Inner Life (内活通(ないかつつう) Uchikatsū) A Light Art that increases one's natural healing using prana, a Shirogane can heal their broken bones in a few days. A skilled enough user could do this feat, while unconscious. Moroha Haimura
NIA Destructive Fist (崩拳(ほうけん) Hōken) A combination of "Diamond Skin" and "Strength", where one raises their hand(s), strengthening their offense and defense, dealing great damage incomparable to the "Strength" without damaging oneself. Sophia Mertesacker
Lu Zhixin

Seven Stars[]

Among the applications of Light Art, there are seven advanced techniques, derived from the "Godspeed", which has been named the Seven Stars (七星(しちしょう) Shichisei), named after the Big Dipper, each one being the bright stars of the constellation Ursa Major.

Image Name Description Users
NIA Donrou (貪狼(どんろう) Donrō, lit. "Famished Wolf") Derived from the "Godspeed", named after the first star, Dubhe,[1] where one uses instantaneous and explosive speed to create tangible clones, capable of attacking an opponent from multiple angles with the same attack. The number of clones depends on how much Donrou has been mastered, first-timers can create two clones, in addition to having poor footwork could result in them becoming slower and creating a gap. However, actual Donrou masters can create four clones, without slowing down or there being such weaknesses behind the technique being used. It is a technique much more difficult than "Komon", being something that no Akane Academy student could use, aside from Moroha, Haruka, and Jin, all of whom mastered it, whereas much older Saviors such as Diegua and Leonardo mastered it. Depending on the person's weight, the number of clones could increase: Moroha via "Decrease Weight" can create 9 clones; Haruka, who weights less can create 5 clones; Deigua, a Sennin can create 8 clones (or more); and Leonardo, the "Strongest Speed-type", in losing his blood could create 7 clones, which enhanced using "Decrease Weight" from the Punisher increased to 21 clones. Ma Deigua
Moroha Haimura
Leonard Van Percy
Haruka Momochi
Jin Isurugi
NIA Komon (巨門(こもん) Komon, lit. "Giant Gate") Derived from the "Godspeed", named after the second star, Merak,[1], where one walks in a unique manner and adjusts their speed to create an afterimage. It is the easiest one to use, one which doesn't create a gap once used but creating two or three afterimages is much more difficult to learn. However, if it can be mastered, then it could cause opponents to mistake it for "Donrou". Moroha Haimura
Haruka Momochi
NIA Rokuzon (禄存(ろくぞん) Rokuzon, lit. "Retention") Derived from "Godspeed", named after the third star, Phecda and an application of "Rentei",[2] where one avoids an opponent's attack, entering their blind spot, causing them to become disoriented by their presence and shorten the distance. As "Rokuzon" is considered a derivation useless against Metaphysicals, those who train to master it are considered odd, however, it makes a good technique to use against Saviors.
Uroboros Mongyoku (文曲(もんぎょく) Mongyoku, lit. "Sentence Song") Derived from "Godspeed", named after the fourth star, Megrez[3], which turns whatever the user stands on into a foothold, although the speed is decreased, using this makes it possible to run along vertical walls, water, falling leaves, and ceilings. If mastered enough, it can be a useful technique against Metaphysicals, though those who have mastered to a certain level are rare, one such person, Lu Zhixin can perform this using his hands. Moroha Haimura
Haruka Momochi
Lu Zhixin
NIA Rentei (廉貞(れんてい) Rentei, lit. "Cheap Righteousness") Derived from "Godspeed", named after the fifth star, Alioth,[1] where one erases their presence and sound, depending on how much it has been mastered, then a person can appear almost invisible. Since it isn't really effective against Metaphysicals, it is rare for a person to master it for combat.
NIA Bukyoku (武曲(ぶきょく) Bukyoku, lit. "Martial Song") Derived from "Godspeed", named after the sixth star, Mizar,[4] where one forcibly accelerates themselves forward using the "Strength", achieving much greater charging power and speed, however, it is almost impossible to alter their course once in motion.
NIA Hagun (破軍(はぐん) Hagun, lit. "Army") A secret technique among secret techniques among those derived from "Godspeed", named after the seventh star, Alkaid,[5] one which combines the six other Seven Star, almost changing the definition of "speed" to teleport in front of their intended target. It is so difficult that almost no Shirogane, no matter how talented can use it. Moroha can use, but isn't reliant on using Hagun, because one could lose their balance and creates a gap in combat, however, those such as Deigua and Edward are capable of using it with almost no such limitations. Five Stars[]

Same as the Seven Stars, there are the Five Star Techniques (五星(ごせい)(わざ) Gosei-waza), all of which are advanced applications of Light Arts named after the Five Planets, each one of them is visible to the naked eye.

Image Name Description Users
Himura Venus Venus (太白(たいはく) Taihaku) A technique that strengthens the power of a weapon, but the true nature of this technique comes from refining and then converting the prana into a destructive power, which turns into a toxin once it enters an opponent, causing internal damage. If a person, such as Sophia or Satsuki, both of whom who has strong prana uses this, then it could wound an A Rank Savior, like Jin and Angela, albeit causing their weapon's power to drop, however, if either could master this, then the two could reach A Rank. Even Speed-types, such as Haruka's Venus cannot be blocked easily using "Diamond Skin". However, normal weapons incapable of handling strong prana such as Salatiga or another treasured sword will soon break as soon as Venus is used on it. Moroha, who mastered Venus was still capable of using it after his fight with Pei Li could still use it, producing much greater power than usual. Moroha Haimura[6]
Jin Isurugi
Haruka Momochi
NIA Mercury (辰星(しんせい) Shinsei) The user manipulates the prana infused into their weapon, controlling it as if it were through telekinesis. Differing from Venus, Mercury is much more technical, requiring skill and practice, with certain masters being capable of creating a Water Dragon using a source of water or tying a chain into a bow. However, alone, Mercury proves almost incapable and ineffective against Metaphysicals. Uisuke Taketsuru[7]
Chinsei Saturn (鎮星(ちんせい) Chinsei) A technique where one attacks the mind, instead of the body, causing people to lose consciousness. As such, the amount of prana used could determine how long the person remains unconscious and if their intended target can defend against it. Moroha Haimura
Sophia Mertesacker[7]
NIA Jupiter (太歳(たいさい) Taisai) A high-level technique where one accumulates prana into their weapon, then releases it as a torrent of wind strong enough to mow down almost everything in their path. However, there are few capable of using it, considering that it requires a high amount of prana to use at least once, but it is also possible to use Jupiter through one's fists, but it isn't as effective. Moroha proves capable of using this despite exhausting himself during his match against Pei Li. Moroha Haimura[8]
Jin Isurugi
NIA Mars (熒惑(ちんせい) Keikō) A super advanced technique that transforms prana into a phenomenon that matches their foundation. As such, there are numerous kinds of Mars depending on the Savior, considering the sheer differences in their souls, however, not many people can use and master Mars, as well as being impossible to use for long. A second effect is that some Saviors can see or sense things no other person can, as shown in Moroha, who can see the "color" or a person's prana and magic, something that someone such as Edward hasn't heard of, and Satsuki who can sense Metaphysicals and hit to an abnormal degree. However, among them, Akira Shiba is considered the "Strongest Mars user in the world", because he can use it without restriction, almost as if he were a Kuroma. Akira Shiba

Inverse Light Art[]

Unique among the Black Knights, all of whom are Saviors who gave their souls to Andou Suruga, who turned them into Metaphysicals, but rational and intelligent, granting them access to Prana and Satana. Despite being weaker than normal Metaphysicals, each one has mastered their Inverse Light Arts (裏光技(うら こうぎ) Ura Kōgi, lit. "Inverse Light Techniques"), aside from their own martial arts, making them much stronger than A Rank Saviors. As such, these are considered superior, but an irregular variant that doesn't have the same weaknesses as their original ones. However, a vast amount of training is required to master one or two, but Lu Zhinxin stated that Jin has abnormal talent capable of mastering each of them through experience alone.

Trivia[]

  • In the anime, when a Shirogane unlocks the seven gates on their bodies, they also appear to manifest their combat suits as well.
  • It is rare for Shirogane to unlock all seven of their prana gates on their first try after entering school until the arrival of Moroha Haimura, but Gen Isurugi doesn't count since he trained for it with his brother before his arrival to Akane Academy and still wasn't prepared to join the Striker Unit.
